From healthcare to home design: Gotcha Covered brings a personalized touch to custom window coverings

Welcome to our “Faces of the BIA” series! We are excited to introduce you to the businesses and people behind our Building Industry Association. It’s all about fostering connections, celebrating our members and helping you get to know the incredible companies that make up our BIA family!

Founded in January of 2024, in Fargo, Gotcha Covered brings a personalized approach to interior window coverings. After many years in healthcare, the founder of Gotcha Covered, DeAnn Von Rueden, was ready for a change.

“I wanted to make a shift outside of the medical field and do something that’s fun, but still make an impact in people’s everyday lives,” she shares. For her, there’s no better way to bring peace into people’s lives than by transforming their homes.

With a background as a paramedic and in nursing for almost three decades, DeAnn brings unique skills to the business, focusing on personal connection, communication and personalized care.

Gotcha Covered specializes in blinds, shades, shutters, drapes and more, for both residential and commercial customers. Each product will be carefully chosen to add warmth and style, while also enhancing privacy and energy efficiency. As she puts it, “When you work with Gotcha Covered, you’ll be working directly with me, from the first call to the final installation. I believe in real, person-to-person connections rather than a company’s call menu.

“Window coverings are thought of last in new home builds, but these homeowners really should buy quality window coverings to protect their floors, walls and furniture from the sun, while addressing energy and efficiency needs,” she says. “Every new home will eventually need quality window coverings, so why not include them from the start? It’s beneficial for both the homeowner and the builder.”

DeAnn is especially excited about the variety Gotcha Covered offers. With access to 12 different product dealers, the business can accommodate a wide range of styles and needs. Drapery has quickly become a favorite niche for DeAnn, as the company partners with fabric specialists to provide custom solutions for homes and commercial spaces. In addition, each product can be motorized and integrated with smart home technology.

Always looking to the future, Gotcha Covered plans to keep expanding partnerships with interior designers and builders, focusing on creating spaces that customers love.

DeAnn advises new business owners to know their products well. She adds, “Know how to find answers to the questions you don’t know. Find a good installer! They are few and hard to come by. Become friends with your area reps, and  always stay humble and be kind to others.”

Joining the Building Industry Association has been key for Gotcha Covered in establishing relationships with local home builders and interior designers. She is the incoming vice chair of the Home & Garden Show Committee and is active on the Professional Women in Building Council. By attending events and joining committees, DeAnn is expanding her network and promoting the value of custom window coverings.

Gotcha Covered joined the BIA-RRV to make a lasting impact, and with a commitment to quality service and design, they are sure to keep making homes and businesses in the Fargo-Moorhead area more beautiful and welcoming for years to come.
